The Conservatory is an elegant and unusual rooftop venue situated just south of the river near Albert Bridge and can be hired for such events as dinners, drinks, cocktail parties and corporate events and entertaining. .
It is available for hire by the hour, seven days a week. Our charges cover the use of The Conservatory, roof terrace and kitchen facility within The Conservatory and cloakrooms on the ground floor.

The fee is incurred from the commencement of any event until the last guest departs. Reasonable time is allowed for setting up and clearing away and this time is not charged for*. Under all circumstances The Conservatory closes at 1am promptly with no exceptions. We have a minimum booking period of 3 hours.

It is illegal to smoke within The Conservatory premises. In accordance with new legislation it is the responsibility of the host/hostess that no member of his appointed staff or invited guests smoke within the premises including the reception and toilet areas. Smoking IS permitted on The Conservatory roof terrace. We request that guests/staff do not smoke in Ransome's Dock courtyard as there are not adequate facilities for used cigarettes.
Payment
A non-refundable deposit of £350 (minimum booking fee) is due on confirmation of a booking. Cloakroom and reception duties are detailed when the final invoice is prepared The deposit invoice is not refundable in any circumstances. A separate (returnable) deposit of £50 is required to ensure appointed caterers leave the kitchen equipment in clean condition. Adequate notices are placed in The Conservatory kitchen to ensure caterers/suppliers are aware of this levy. Please ensure that you provide your caterer with a copy of The Terms and Conditions and separate "Caterers Notes" supplied with the deposit invoice and Hire Agreement.
We strongly recommend using our approved caterers but if you prefer to appoint another supplier there will be a flat fee of £50.00 for use of the facilities (all other terms and conditions apply).
A member of The Conservatory staff will be available in the reception area throughout all evening events. Food and refreshment must be provided for that person.
Music can only be played when prior permission has been received from Babline Limited. Music must be strictly background with no amplification. No music is permitted during weekdays until after 6pm. We reserve the right to discontinue any music using inapproriate sound equipment or exceeding the level of background music. We are not a dance venue, ALL MUSIC MUST STOP AT 11.45PM.
Children should be strictly supervised particularly on the rooftop areas and spiral staircase. Parents invited to any event must accept full responsibility for any children who attend and bring their children entirely at their own risk.
The roof terrace can not be used in the event of rain or wet weather conditions due to slippery surface. Any person using the roof terrace during such weather conditions does so entirely at their own risk.
BABLINE/The Conservatory accept no responsibility in respect of any matters concerning catering or catering arrangements made by the Hirer. Our list of recommended services is for information and convenience only.
Any supplier appointed must be aware that the oven, fridge and kitchen area MUST be left clean.
A member of The Conservatory staff will be available in the reception area throughout all evening events. Food and refreshment must be provided for that person.
All rubbish must be removed from The Conservatory, via the caterers or the hirer and must be disposed of correctly. (See note in Conservatory kitchen). A separate additional charge of up to £50 will be levied for non-removal of rubbish. Rubbish, including empty bottles, must be placed INSIDE the bins and not left on the floor of the courtyard binstore. In the event of bin store being full, rubbish must be taken away from Ransome’s Dock.
Bottles must be taken away from Ransome's Dock and re-cycled via your caterer. If bottles are left there will be a minimum recycling fee of £50.00
Any property left at The Conservatory overnight is done so entirely at the owners risk.
Any damage caused during the rental period will be charged to the Hirer as will any extra cleaning charges resulting from failure to leave The Conservatory in a satisfactory condition. There is no opportunity to return the following day to clear rubbish or wash glasses. Provision must be made to remove rubbish immediately after each event. Hire equipment companies (including Wine Merchants) can collect their property the following morning. (By prior arrangement for weekends). Deliveries can only be made on the day of your event.
Furniture, plants and other property of Babline provided in The Conservatory must not be moved from their appointed positions without prior permission. It is the responsibility of hirer or hirers appointed caterer to ensure any furniture moved is returned inside the building. Do not move conservatory plants outside.
Because of the use of an automatic watering system on the roof terrace plants MUST NOT be moved from their appointed position.
Fireworks are not permitted.
Parking is available in Ransome’s Dock courtyard after 6pm ONLY on weekdays. No restrictions at weekends.
Any provisional bookings will be held for a period of 7 days only. Similarly deposit invoices must be paid within 7 days or the booking is automatically cancelled. Any bookings that are cancelled 30 days or under prior to agreed date will be invoiced for the full amount of the rental.
BABLINE/The Conservatory shall not bear any liability for any loss, damage or injury arising from any cause whatsoever during or in connection with any function.
An awning is permitted by separate arrangement. See separate sheet of suppliers.
Deliveries can only be made by prior arrangement and should be co-ordinated so that this coincides with caterers arrival particularly if a signature is required. If hire equipment needs to be delivered earlier than this the hirer must liaise with The Conservatory for delivery details and instructions. THERE IS NO PERSON AVAILABLE TO RECEIVE OR SIGN FOR ANY DELIVERIES MADE TO THE CONSERVATORY KITCHEN.
*On completion of drinks receptions we allow 45 minutes of clearing up time. Any time taken in excess of this will be charged at the normal hourly rate. PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME THAT IF YOU ARE PROVIDING YOUR OWN CATERING THAT THIS DOES NOT APPLY. YOU SHOULD ENSURE ADEQUATE STAFF TO COMPLETE THE TASKS WITHIN THE TIME PROVIDED. OUR RECEPTIONIST KEEPS A TIME SHEET OF END OF PARTY AND CATERERS DEPARTURE. IT IS AT HER/HIS DISCRESTION TO ADVISE THE CONSERVATORY/BABLINE OF TIMINGS OF EVENT. On completion of dinner/lunch parties we will allow 1 hour of clearing up time and any time taken in excess of this will be charged at the normal hourly rate.
There are no telephone facilities at The Conservatory except for use in ordering taxi cabs or in the case of an emergency. If you require in-coming calls please advise the receptionist and she will enable the phone to receive phone calls.
The Conservatory is open to visitors by appointment only.
HIRE OF THE CONSERVATORY IS SUBJECT TO AGREEMENT OF THE CONDITIONS OF HIRE. HIRE AGREEMENT MUST BE RETURNED WITH DEPOSIT CHEQUE
If payment is made by credit or debit card then the signed agreement must be returned by post.
Upon receipt of the final invoice 5% will be deducted if payment is made within ten working days and the payment is processed by credit or debit card.
Although we make our very best effort to keep the above Terms and Conditions as current as possible, these Terms and Conditions are subject to alteration. If you are concerned about this, then please ask us for a current version.
